Graduate student (no degree conferred yet)

The student from the master’s program (no degree conferred yet) will acquire the knowledge, abilities, and qualities to:

  • critically reflect on the theoretical aspects (philosophical, historical, sociological, etc.) of scientific practice in general, or some specific scientific discipline;
  • undertake specialized teaching duties on some of the six fields of knowledge fostered in the Graduate Program;
  • integrate and collaborate in research groups related to some of the aforementioned fields of knowledge;
  • participate in discussions and public debates that allow for a better social comprehension of results, social role, and impact, of science and technology;
  • develop products of communication and outreach that allow for a better social comprehension of the results, social role, and impact, of science and technology; and
  • continue with doctoral studies in some of the six fields of knowledge of the Graduate Program, or akin disciplines.

 

Graduate profile (degree conferred)

The graduated student from the master’s program will be able to participate in any of the following professional environments:

  • undertake specialized teaching duties, in middle-higher or higher education, on some of the fields of knowledge fostered by the Graduate Program;
  • participate in research projects with groups involved in the analysis and evaluation of science and technology;
  • participate with groups and social organisms, with critical and well-founded opinions, involved in public debates concerning the social role of science and technology, the way in which they must be channeled and harnessed, their social utility, and the ways of overseeing the risks they generate; and
  • perform outreach activities of scientific and technological knowledge in mass-media or in educational programs of institutions.
